... and no wonder. Pistyll Rhaeadr is one of the Seven Wonders of Wales and a site of special scientific interest. The waterfall is formed by the Afon Disgynfa, which falls in three stages - one through an "eye" of rock - over a 73 metre (240 feet) Silurian cliff. At the bottom the river becomes the Afon Rhaeadr, which is what flows past Eirianfa
Pistyll Rhaeadr is a great starting point for many walks in the Berwyn Mountains. At the foot are a car park, cafe and toilets, but the site is still unspoiled. The walk to the top takes about half an hour and is well worth it for the views. It'll get your heart pumping, but in good weather it's pleasant and assuming you've got good shoes or boots most people should be able to give it try.
Walks around the Tanat Valley and in to the Berwyns will reward you with fantastic views and wonderfully varied landscape. We have maps at Eirianfa and are keen on walking ourselves so will be able to help you plan a route.
